He works to bridge the gap between older and younger generations by promoting education, leadership development, and sustainable community growth.
Born and raised within the local community, William lived among the people of Mfangano and the surrounding region for 24 years. His deep understanding of the community's culture, traditions, and values enables him to provide valuable insight that strengthens KMP's work locally and helps international partners better understand the needs and aspirations of the people it serves.
William has served in leadership since the founding of KMP Ministry. Working closely with the President and department leaders, he helps organize, coordinate, and implement strategic initiatives that support the organization's development projects in Mfangano and the United States.
Responsibilities as Deputy President
As Deputy President, William's responsibilities include:
  1. Serving as the immediate successor to the President, assuming presidential responsibilities whenever the President is unavailable or unable to serve.
  2. Assisting the President with strategic decision-making, organizational planning, financial oversight, and collaboration with department directors, senior leaders, and community stakeholders.
  3. Leading special initiatives and carrying out assignments that advance the organization's mission and may fall outside other leadership roles.
  4. Supporting leadership succession planning by helping identify, mentor, and prepare future organizational leaders.
  5. Reviewing the organization's budget on a regular basis to ensure financial accountability and alignment with KMP's mission and strategic objectives.
  6. Representing the organization as a spokesperson when needed and helping cultivate strong relationships with donors, funding partners, community stakeholders, and strategic partners.
  7. Serving as a mediator to resolve conflicts between departments or members while promoting unity and collaboration throughout the organization.
  8. Overseeing the day-to-day operations of designated program areas and ensuring projects are effectively managed according to organizational priorities.

Previous Leadership

Before assuming his current position as Deputy President, William served as the President of Kenya My People CBO, leading programs that benefited communities in Mfangano, Sindo, Awendo, Nairobi, and Mbita. During his tenure, he helped establish the organization's vision, expand its outreach, and strengthen its community impact.
William later stepped down from the presidency because of the increasing responsibilities of his professional career in the United States. He served as Assistant Director of Environmental Services (EVS) for three and a half years before being promoted to Director of Environmental Services at a major hospital facility in the United States. Despite his demanding professional responsibilities, he continues to provide strategic leadership and guidance to KMP as Deputy President, remaining dedicated to advancing the organization's mission and supporting the communities it serves.
